Evolution of a project

So since last posting the focus of the project has changed slightly. Instead of just drawing and researching Tribal body painting I am also looking at the body decoration and adornments that go hand in hand with the traditional body patterning.
once again i have found some amazing photographs, in particular from and amazing new york photograph called Joey L. so many thanks to all of them.

Soon I'll be posting some recent scans of my drawing work. Concentrating on just drawing is difficult, especially with the densely patterned nature of the images I am using. However it needs to be done before I can move on to manipulating the images in to designs through CAD and all the print processes and dye techniques that I love.
Can't wait to get back in the Print room...might take a while though.

New Blog

New year of study, new blog.
The plan is to document my research and projects throughout the course of my third and final year of study.
firstly the module that begins in september and ends in december and later on my final major project, or as some call it degree show! scary.

So for this first module my project is based around the study of Tribal body painting and decoration. over the summer i have collected some beautiful photos from around the world of indigenous peoples body painting and they decoration they use in rituals and ceremonies as well as their everyday life.

Just a few of the amazing images i have collected. now just to start drawing and designing from them. unfortuntely none of these are my own images, as i have neither the time nor the money at this point to visit south america, oceana or africa as much as i would love to!
